Alfred Joseph Thornbrugh, 87, of Hannibal and formerly of the Springfield, Mo., area, died at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra. Services will be held at a later date. Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thornbrugh was born Feb. 23, 1921, in South Dakota to Lawrence and Nancy Thornbrugh. Survivors include one son, William A. Thornbrugh of Greenfield; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy White and Lue Bradshaw. Mr. Thornbrugh was a retired mechanic.
