My great grandmother. Julia, the daughter of Ann Mayfield Abrams and Joseph Abrams was born in Licking County Ohio. Her family migrated to Iowa and in 1867 she married Alexander Parr. They were the parents of 12 children. She died in her 4th month of pregnancy, suffering a miscarriage after picking up a calf caught in the stream, resulting in blood poisoning. Her love of animals was passed to all her children and the generations to follow.
