Rebecca A., 97, of Bethany, died Saturday, after a short illness. Born at Marble AR., came to Okla. at the age of 7. Survived by daughters, Ruby Russell and Betty Joan Organ, both OKC, Rurie Hamons of Duncan, Eloise Gore of Buena Park, CA.; son, Wayne Laird, OKC; 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren.
Services 10am Wednesday, Bill Merritt Chapel, Bethany.

Came to Oklahoma Territory prior to 1900 in a wagon from Arkansas. The family shows as being settled in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory on the 1900 U.S. Census. Married Mark L. Laird on March 11, 1907. Together they were the parents of Ruby May, Rurie Fay, Lula Maude, John Frank, Wayne M, Lee Eloise and Betty Joann Laird. Lived in Marshall County, Oklahoma until the mid 1940's when she moved to Oklahoma City. One thing we will never forget is how Grandmother Laird would peel the bark of twigs, flatten out one side and use it to dip her snuff with a spit can always near by.
