Mark Laird. 75, Dies in Hospital

Mark L. Laird, former Marshall county commissioner and Madill grocer, died Sunday morning in Mercy Hospital. He had been ill since suffering a stroke of paralysis two weeks ago. He was 75 years old and for the past six years had lived at 4315 N. Granger.

Laird moved from his native Decatur, Texas, to Marshall county when 16 years old. He lived there until moving to Oklahoma City and served the county as a commissioner in 1915-16.

A member of the Church of Christ, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca, home address; three sons, Wayne, home address; C.M., Madill, and John F., Seattle, Wash.; five daughters, Mrs. Ruby Russell, Spearman, Texas; Mrs. C.F. Hamons, McAlester; and Mrs. Lula McDonald, Mrs. T.S. Gore and Betty John Laird, all of the home address; a brother, John Laird, Stanley, N.M. and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Watts Funeral Home in Madill, with burial in the American Legion cemetery there. Local arrangements were by Watts Funeral Home here.
