MRS. E. R. STEWART DEAD.
Well Known and Esteemed Resident of Jefferson Passes Away.
Mrs. Elizabeth Rachael Stewart, well known in this city and in the county, who lived three miles north of Jefferson, died this morning of heart disease at 1:30 o'clock after an illness of six weeks' duration.
Mrs. Stewart is one of the oldest residents of Jefferson. She had resided there since 1883 when her husband purchased the place.
Mrs. Stewart was the widow of the late J. H. Stewart and was 61 years of age. She is survived by seven children, four sons and three daughters. Her oldest son died four months ago today. The children are: J. H. Stewart, Cherryvale; C. S. Stewart, and G. M. Stewart, Jefferson; Mary Farnsworth, Stella and Lulu Stewart, who lived at home and W. H. Stewart, the oldest son, who lives in Marion county.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Jefferson Methodist church and prominently identified in church work and was one of the best beloved women in the section of the county in which she lived.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from her late residence at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Reverend McKeen. The time for the funeral is set with the provision that her sons will have arrived in Jefferson by that time.
Interment will be in the Independence cemetery.
