Death of Dr. Stewart

End Comes After A Long, Brave Struggle.

Passed Away Last Night at 11 O'clock at the Home of His Mother Six Miles Southwest of Independence - Burial Tomorrow.

Dr. Samuel H. Stewart died last night at 11 o'clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. E.R. Stewart, six miles southwest of Independence and thus ended a long brave struggle, with that dread disease, consumption. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 10:30 from the residence, Rev. Sawyer of Jefferson, having charge of the service. Deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and also of the Modern Woodmen, holding a card in the Rosebud Camp No. 600 of Kansas City, Kansas.

He is survived by his mother, four brothers and three sisters. They are W.H. Stewart, of Marion, Kansas; J.H. Stewart, of Cherryvale, Kansas; G.M. and C.S. Stewart of Independence, Mrs. George Farnsworth of this city, and Misses Stella and Lulu Stewart, now at home with their mother.

Dr. Stewart was a graduate of the Kansas City Dental college, leaving the school in 1905. He established himself in business in Kansas City, Kansas, but about nine months ago failing health compelled him to abandon active practice. He took a trip of one month down the James river in Missouri on a hunting and fishing excursion, hoping that the outdoor life would check the insidious march of the disease which had him in its grip, but the efforts was without success.

last September the young man went to Arizona, but this expedient, also proved unavailing and he grew weaker and weaker until a brother had to go to Arizona to accompany him home. He arrived here January 7, and it was evident that the sands of life had nearly run out.

His death is a sad blow to his relatives and many friends in this city, who had hoped for a brilliant career in his life's work.
