Mr. Berry Scroggins came to his death by gunshot wounds inflicted by Sheriff Coyle and posse of Thomas Co. GA. while lawfully attempting the arrest of Scroggins for an assault with intent to murder on Mr. Rainey Chastain, a relative.
Mr. Rainey Chastain was shot on Friday, April 23, 1880 and died on Monday, April 26, 1880 from gunshot wounds, beng shot by Mr. Berry Scroggins.
