JOE HAWKINS, 59, of Loveland, formerly of Colorado Springs, died Friday at his home. He owned Retread Specialists Inc. in Colorado Springs, Longmont, Fort Collins and Boulder.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Loveland. Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, Loveland, is handling arrangements.

Mr. Hawkins was born April 26, 1931, in McCloud, Okla., to Jessie Bell Hawkins of Forest Lake, Minn., and the late William Hawkins.

He served with the Air Force from 1948 to 1954, when he moved to Colorado Springs. He owned and operated Empire Tire until 1973. He moved to Loveland in 1984.

He was married Feb. 10, 1956, in Denver to Rogene Bales, who survives.

Other survivors are four sons, Steve and Richard, both of Berthoud, and David and Dan, both of Loveland; two daughters, Pam Cooley of Colorado Springs and Linda Turner of Zachary, La.; a brother, Bill of Stockton, Calif.; a sister, Laurene Haggert of Forest Lake, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
