James Russell Prunty, 74, of Rushville died at 7:38 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1992, at Culbertson

Born Nov. 14, 1917, in Schuyler County to Jesse Ferris and Unoma Belle Cooper Prunty, he married Ina Mae Knight.

Surviving are two sons, James Robert of Cambridge, Minn., and Danny Joe of Mackinaw; one daughter, Sharon Tomlinson of Rushville; two brothers, William "Bill" of Peoria and Fred of Moline; four sisters, Hazel Dean of Kirkwood, Mrs. Gilbert (Julia) Allen of Camden, Jesse Wiggins of Beardstown and Iva Chockley of Rushville; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One brother and one grandson preceded him in death.

He worked for the Civil Conservation Corps and later worked in construction in Nebraska. He farmed in the Rushville area and then worked as a drill press operator at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1980. He was a former member of Rushville Moose Lodge.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Simms Cemetery near Mindale. The Rev. Marvin Chockley will officiate. There will be no visitation. Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.Memorials may be made to Cass-Schuyler Home Health Care.
