Melissa was the daughter of John Casler born 1786 in Montgomery County, New York and Mary "Polly" House Woodward born in 1792 in the same county. They moved to Springboro in 1834 from Spafford, New York. John died in 1865 and Polly in 1868 in Springboro.
She married George E Foster 1831-1886.
In one census, they had a daughter Flora born in 1860.
