BARGEN - HIGBY

A pretty home wedding occurred Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bargen, when their daughter Dorothy Elizabeth was united in marriage to Eldon E. Higby of Aurora, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Higby. Preceding the ceremony, which was the double ring one, presided over by Rev. V. R. Daniels of the M. E. Church, Mrs. Daniels played The Venetian Love Song, and Mrs. Barton Lepper sang At Dawning and Because. Then the wedding party entered the rooms to the strains of Lohengrins March, taking their places before a mass of ferns end foliages (sic) flanked by huge baskets of garden flowers. The attendants were Chester Bargen, brother of the bride, and Geraldine Higby, sister of the groom, who wore a robins egg blue gown of lace and net over satin.

The bride was attired in a gown of white organza over white satin with a shoulder length veil, and her boquet (sic) was Talisman roses with shower sprays.

After the ceremony a reception was held, during which the strains of To A Wild Rose were played. Then the guests were taken to the dining room where refreshments consisting of ice cream simulating wedding bells and Individual white cakes were served. Mrs. August Meyer and Mrs. Ed Bishoff served and Mrs. Leland Williams, Mrs. Floyd Meyer and Mrs. Chas. Demilt assisted in the dining room. Mrs. Herbert Yost, sister, of the bride, presided at the guest list and gift tables.

The bride has grown up here at Nelson, where her friends are legion. She is a Nelson High graduate of the Class 1931. Mr. Higby is a graduate of the Kansas City Morticians' school as well as the Aurora High School.

The happy couple left shortly after, the ceremony for Omaha and Nebraska City, and were "at home" in Aurora after August 30th, where a home completely furnished awaited them. The groom is asociated (sic) with his father in the Aurora Mortuary.

The guests at the wedding aside from the immediate family group, were Rev. and Mrs. V. R. Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. Barton Lepper, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Swartz and Vic Scherzinger.
