Arnold Gaestel Sr., owner and operator of B. Reinken & Son Cigar Store, 835 S.
Eighth St., Manitowoc, died early Thursday morning at Holy Family Hospital. Mr.
Gaestel, who was 65, had been in ill health for about a year.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. The ___ ___ ___ will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Gaestel was born at Manitowoc Dec. 8, 1890, son of the late George and Eureka
Schroeder Gaestel. He married Olga Stephani at Manitowoc July 22, 1916?. He
devoted a total of 51 years to the cigar business, being employed by the late Mr.
Reinken until he took over the business 12 years ago.
Surviving him are his wife, three sons, George and Arnold Jr. of Manitowoc and
Melvin of Shullsburg, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Allen Eberhardt of Manitowoc and
Mrs. Earl Schwalbe of Valders; a brother, Fred Gaestel of Manitowoc; a half-
brother: Lester Kugler of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Kugler of Milwaukee
and Mrs. Stanley Zlatohlvaek of Manitowoc; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 2 p.m.
Friday until 10:30 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be moved to the church
where the body will lie in state until the hour of service.
