Lands on Head After Fall of 12 Feet; Condition is Critical at the Hospital
William Croll, a painting contractor of the city, is in the Holy Family Hospital
in a critical condition with a fracture of the skull which he received in a fall
at his home this morning. He struck his head on a cement sidewalk as he fell and
the serious injuries resulted. Croll and his partner were engaged in painting
his home when he toppled from the staging, nearly 12 feet above the ground. When
picked up, he was unconscious and remained so for a considerable time. The man
is extremely heavy and active and a fall from the height he fell is unusually
dangerous because of the conditions.
For many years, Croll has been engaged in the painting trade and is widely known
here. He lives at 1803 S. Tenth street.
