He engaged in farming and stock raising, was a brick manufacturer 6 years and now has a tile factory in connection with his farm. He was married February 13, 1845 to Miss Eliza Armitage to whom 6 children were born 4 of whom were living Ann, William. Augusta, and Matilda. He is the owner of 78 acres of land within the city limits, has been a member of Mt Clemens Baptist Church for a quarter of a century, and a Deacon of that church for 8 or 9 years.
