Glenn Brown MOORESVILLE
Glenn Washington Brown, 82, of Moores-ville, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, N.C. He was born on Oct. 7, 1928, in Wilkes County to the late Claude Franklin and Eddie McBride Brown.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Brown was a retired Postmaster and was the first rural foot carrier in Jonesville, N.C. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Mooresville and a member of the XYZ Group in the church. Mr. Brown was a "picker and a grinner" and loved to play the guitar.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Ann Mathis; sister, Margaret B. Holbrook and brothers, Fred Brown, Walter Brown and Clyde Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Hoots Brown, to whom he was married for more than 59 years; a daughter, Cynthia Brown McLaurin and husband, Emory, of Mooresville, N.C. and grandchildren, Robert Mathis, Christopher Mathis, Joshua McLaur-in and Patrick McLaurin.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown were held at First Baptist Church, Mooresville, N.C. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Cloninger and Rev. Monroe Huffman officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial followed the service in Glenwood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 150 S. Church Street, Mooresville, NC 28115 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
