Thursday evening, Mrs. Olive Sales, a 40-year resident of Appanoose Co., passed away at her home in Centerville. Mrs. Sales had been in ill health for the past three years and her condition became serious a month ago.
She was born at Greentop, Mo., March 2, 1862, where she lived for eight years after her marriage to J. N. Underwood at Kirksville, Mo., February 8, 1883. To this marriage three children were born. They moved to Moulton 40 years ago and have been residents of this county ever since. Mr. Underwood died Dec. 26, 1894 and was buried at the Hardin cemetery at Moulton. July 31, 1921, she married N. M. Sales at Moulton and moved to their present home at Centerville.
Mrs. Sales is mourned by her husband Mr. Sales, two daughters, Mrs. E. C. Hanna, of Atlanta, Mo., and Mrs. L. Kemper, of Moberly, Mo., one son Joseph William Underwood, of Centerville, one grandson Lewis C. Hanna and one granddaughter, Mrs. Alva Powell, three step-children, J. F. Sales of Ilathe, Kans., Mrs. Stella Hixenbaugh, of Centerville, and Chas. M. Sales, of Seymour; three sisters, Mrs. Lyde Fish, of St. Charles, Mo.,Mrs. Laura Benson, of Jessie Lake, Minn., and Mrs. Annie Rolston, of Boulder, Colo., and two brothers, Martin Brushey, of Newta, Kans., and Alvin Brushey, of Montana. Mrs. Sales has always been connected with the Methodist church and joined the Centerville congregation upon her arrival and has long been prominent in its activities. Services were held Saturday at 10:30 a. m. at the Miller Funeral home with Rev. L. H. Lanning officiating. Burial was made at Hardin cemetery, north of Moulton.
