Charles Jefferson "Jeff" was the son Of Linza D. and Susan Watson Hutchinson. Jeff's father, mother, and five siblings died between January 1861 and 1865. After his father died in 1865 he lived with William B. Magee and his family. Jeff married Lucy Virginia Newton, February 7, 1878, in Grant Parish, Louisiana. He was the father of eight children, William Oscar, Myrtle Alice, Thomas Newton, Minnie Ida, Franklin Lee, Charles Jefferson, an infant, and Mattie Virginia or Maxie Pat. In some records his youngest daughter is called Mattie Virginia and in other records she is called Maxie Pat.
