Jeff was the son of Charles Jefferson Hutchinson, Sr. and Lucy Virginia Newton. He married Wilma Cora Thomas August 24, 1919 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and was the father of three sons. Jeff majored in agricultural engineering at Louisana State University. He served during the war in France and Germany. Jeff work for the United Fruit Co. in Panama, was an instructor in agricultural enginering at Texas A&M, County Agent in the Panhandle of Texas, and was a manager of a wheat and poultry ranch also in Texas. Jeff went on to be an agricultural engineer for the Agricultural Extension Divison at Louisiana State University.
