Ed served with the U.S. Army from 1929-1933 (lying about his age to get in) 9th Infantry Company F, Peacetime Division. General contractor in McAlester, Oklahoma for 21 years. He also owned E.F. Todd and Sons Plumbing and Supply, in McAlester. Moved to Oroville, California in 1962, where he worked for the California Department of Water Resources Division of Operations and Maintenance at the Oroville dam, until his retirement. Ed and Lewis once built a boat in Ed's basement when they had finished the boat they realize that they had neglected to measure the basement door to see if the boat would fit, it didn't. Ed always like to mess around with electrical things and had built a lamp that would come on when you put your hand close to it. He also enjoyed panning for gold in a creek that ran through his back yard in Oroville. When Grandpa Joel was working in the oil fields in Oklahoma, he and his family lived in a tent. Dad and Ed were having trouble with some other boys in the tent village. Dad and Ed got an old inner tube, cut it, tied it between two trees to make a sling shot. They found some large boulders and shot it at the boys tent and tore it down. The boys had taken candy from dad and Ed which started the feud. This story was told to me by Carl Todd. Listed as Ed F. Todd on the 1930 census for Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma. Age 16 listed as head of house also listed was Emma C. Todd, mother age 53, Lewis D. Todd age 14.
