Gladys Early Boyd, 84, of Radford, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, August 7, 2012.

She took her journey with her children by her side. She was a member of Abba's House and Worship Center and a longtime member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

She was in the field of nursing at St. Albans Psychiatric Hospital for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Annie Bess Early and her husband, Fred Leechman Boyd.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. and Alma Wright Boyd, of Troutville; daughter, Donna Gail Boyd, of Radford; two grandchildren and their spouses, the Rev. Robbie Austin and Mindy Boyd, of Troutville, and Ashley Reagan-Boyd and Dan Lucas, of Fincastle; great-grandchild, Isabelle Reagan Lucas; brother-in-law Foster Clayton Boyd, of Radford; and an aunt, Marie Boyd Jackson; former sister-in-law, Audrey B. Knepper; nieces and other family members too numerous to mention; and extended family including Phyllis Besseler, Faith Gill, Regina Smith, Marie Pruitt and Carlin Barbetti. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Conatser and his office staff, NRV Carilion Hospice and Dr. Tina Smusz, Dr. Janet Bechtel and staff, and all their good neighbors.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, with son, Dr. Ronald D. Boyd, and the Rev. Joyce Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday August 10, 2012, at the funeral home. The Boyd family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
