Opal is my aunt, married to my Mom's brother, Bob. She was a registered nurse and spent her entire life in the service of others. After they retired, she and Uncle Bob served a mission together for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in California. She worked well into her 80s as a receptionist at her son-in-law's law firm and also volunteered to run concession stands, etc. for sports.

She had four children: Lori, Monica, Brian, and Sonja. She was a very talented individual and adored by her many friends and relatives.

This is her obituary from The Montana Standard submitted by her granddaughter, Stephanie:

Opal Joy (Smith) Nash was called home Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012. She was surrounded by her family.

Opal was born on Nov. 27, 1924, in Kilgore, Idaho, to Ira Ellis Smith and Adelaide (Calloway) Smith. She was one of nine kids — seven of which were brothers and one sister.

She graduated from the Sisters of Charity as a registered nurse. She assisted in surgeries and cared for her patients with compassion and empathy. She married Robert Nash in June of 1964. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in February 1968. They had four children, Lori, Monica, Brian and Sonja. She was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to her children. Her happiest moments were spent with her family.

She and her husband later served a LDS Church mission in California, primarily working with Asian refugees. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was very dedicated to her church callings and never missed a Sunday.

She worked as a receptionist in the Hennessey Law Offices with her three daughters and son-in-law, Walt. She also volunteered at the Northwestern Little League baseball fields in the concession stands. She was their Volunteer of the Year in 1998.

She is survived by her daughters, Lori Durkin and Monica Goosey; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jauhn Nash; her last sibling, Doty Smith, 93; 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, John Gardipee and Walt Hennessey; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her six brothers; one sister; husband, Robert Nash; and daughter, Sonja Hennessey.

Services have taken place. A memorial services starts 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Whitehall Cemetery.
