Anna was the daughter of Dr. John and Margaretta (DeBevoise) Duffield. She was sister to Susan Duffield Lawrence, Margaretta Duffield Thompson Willoughby and John Duffield. On February 18, 1811 Anna married Capt. Christopher Prince and became mother to Margaret Amelia Prince Duffield, John Duffield Prince, Sr., Anna DeBevoise Prince Dow, Susan Lawrence Prince Rockwell Strickland, Benjamin Prince and Dr. Christopher Prince. Anna was the wife of a sea captain who was often gone for long periods of time. Anna did have her mother and sisters nearby to help but it must have been hard for her when her husband died at the age of 39 in early October of 1823 and she gave birth to her youngest son in late October of the same year.
