Jessie Wayne Mayo, 77, of Tulsa passed from this life Monday, August 6, 2012 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born November 24, 1934 in Tioga, Texas the son of Jess Allen and Zelma Elizabeth (Bunch) Mayo.

Jessie was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He attended the Maranatha Baptist Temple in Collinsville and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jessie was very involved in his children and grandchildren's lives while they were growing up and even coached his granddaughters' softball teams. He was a former Senior Olympics ping pong champion and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and bird watching.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; daughters, Deborah Mayo White and an infant baby girl; sisters, Regina Adams and Patricia Smith; and brothers, Owen and Milford Mayo.

His survivors include his wife of over 57 years, Molly (Hampton) Mayo; daughters, Teresa Holder and husband, Jack of Sapulpa and Charlotte Money and husband, Mike of Glenpool; sisters, Coretta Newton of Welling and Faye Gregory of the East Longmeadow, MA; brother, Donald Mayo and wife, Margaret of Big Cabin; grandchildren, Kalissa Stimson and husband, Stephen of Jenks, Jennifer Maez and husband, Luis of Glenpool, Andy White and wife, Anna of Glenpool, Michael Money Jr. and wife, Taylor of Bixby, Steven Holder of Sapulpa and Lisa Holder of Sapulpa; great grandchildren, JoLeigh White of Glenpool, Emmalie Maez of Glenpool, Kynder Stimson of Jenks, Ava Maez of Glenpool, Ellyssa Maez of Glenpool and Gentry Stimson of Jenks; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10 am, Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the Chapel at Heath-Griffith Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow in Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs under the direction of Heath-Griffith Funeral Home, 918-446-6633.
