William L. "Bill" Arni, 86, Independence, MO passed away Aug. 4, 2012. Services will be 10 am, Thursday at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment with Full Military Honors at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm, Wed at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to The American Heart Assoc., 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212.
Bill was born Feb. 10, 1926 in Marshall, MO and grew up there. He is a U. S. Navy veteran of WW II. During his career in the oil business, he worked for Franklin Oil Co. for thirty-two years and later worked for Peeler Oil Co., Parker OiI Co., and CarQuest. He was a huge sports fan of the Royals, Chiefs, Mizzou Tigers and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in NASCAR. Bill was a hard worker who set a great example for others to follow.
Bill was preceded in death by daughters Catherine Arni, Amy Arni and son Tony Arni. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Helen Arni, of the home; son Jerry Norris, and wife Terry; daughter Ann Arni, all of Independence, MO; daughter Carol Ranck and husband David, Blue Springs, MO; daughter-in-law Roxanna Arni, Independence, MO; sister Dora Alice Shannon and husband Carter; brothers Marion Arni and wife Donna, all of Marshall, MO; Rev. Martin Arni and wife Elizabeth, Illinois; Larry Arni and wife Barbara, Caldwell, ID; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
