Ruth Whitehead Payne

Ruth Whitehead Payne, born August 7, 1919 in Happy Valley and went home to be with her Lord, March 5, 2010. She was a member of Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church for 57 years. Her service to her Lord includes, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Librarian, and WMU. Ruth loved flowers and shared her indoor and outdoor plants with many people.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Sinda Whitehead; husband of 55 years, George W. Payne; brothers, Clayton Whitehead, Arthur Whitehead, Ben and wife, Ethel Whitehead; sisters, Pearl and husband, Ed Riden; and son in law, Lynn Welshan.

Survivors include her sons, David and wife, Glenda Payne, Duane and wife, Carolyn Payne; daughter, Lynn Tipton and husband, Roger. She was "Grammy" to seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She leaves brothers, Archie Whitehead and wife, Reba, Grady Whitehead and wife, Betty; sisters in law, Samie Whitehead and Dorothy Whitehead; several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of brothers and sisters in Christ.

The funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Beecher Whitehead and Rev. Clifton Hearon officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment service.
