Marshall Franklin Stogner, of Smithville, Tx, was born March 30, 1930 in Hastings, Oklahoma, and died at home on August 3rd, 2012 surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nannie Mae and Doyle Stogner; brothers Joel Mack, Perry Dale and Douglas Lee Stogner; and sisters Ouida Mae Stogner, Janie Ruth Andrews and Jessie Pauline Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Helen Stogner; his children, Marsha (Stu) Jones of Taos, N.M.; Tracy (Pauline) Stogner of Albuquerque, N.M.; Michele Stogner, and Monique (Chris) Fullbright all of Austin. Step-children include Lisa Anstey of Smithville; Sherri (Michael) Ahart of Sugar Land; John (Marcie) Barr, and Jason (Stephanie) Barr all of Austin; grandchildren Allison Poccia, Nathan Cohn, Kayla Sutherland, and Grant and Garrett Marumoto; and step-grandchildren Ashley Derrig, Eric Ahart, Lauren Ahart, Megan Chamberlain, Colton Anstey and Emily Barr, as well as five great-grandchildren. Marshall is also survived by brothers Warren Austin Stogner of Decatur, Texas and Doyle Tracy Stogner of Trophy Club; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Marshall attended Temple, Oklahoma schools and graduated from Temple High School. Following high school, he attended Panhandle A&M College, in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where he earned a B.S. in Agriculture. After graduating from college, he entered the U.S. Army, and proudly served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War in the Special Forces as a Green Beret. While in the service, he received numerous awards for courage and bravery, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. After serving twenty years, Marshall retired from the military as a Major in 1972. After retirement from the military, he enjoyed employment with several Austin car dealerships, working in sales and management.

Marshall loved playing golf, fishing trips with family, watching college football, traveling, and membership in various card and domino groups. He was loved by his family and friends, and will be dearly missed.

Family will receive guests at Marrs Jones Funeral Home, Tuesday August 7th, 6pm until 8pm. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Smithville, Texas Wednesday at 10am.
