Simon Doles
Service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Pleasant Valley Church, Skunk Hollow, for Simon Doles, 75, a retired coal miner. Mr. Doles, who had lived in Ray and was the father of Clifford Doles of Chillicothe, died Friday at Athens. He was born in Vinton County on October 31, 1885, the son of Thomas and Nancy Lytle Doles. His wife, Eva, predeceased him. Surviving, in addition to the son, are nine grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. The Rev. James Collins will officiate at the services, with burial to follow in the Doles Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wrightsel Funeral Home in McArthur.
Marriage to Eva Coral Clark ended in divorce. According to several sources, he was attacked after leaving Club Vinton, in Vinton County and left for dead. He lived, but had brain damage. He died at the Athens Mental Health and Development Center in Athens, Ohio.
