Alma was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Grafton and at the time of her death, she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley.
Alma married Edward C. Lauenstein on November 9, 1921, at Grafton, and the couple lived their entire married life on the family farm west of Geneva. In March of 1987, due to failing health, she moved to Bruning where she made her home until her death.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; son, Donald, granddaughter, Suzanne Schmidt; and a brother, Carl.
She is survived by three sons, Clarence of Wales, Utah, Harold of Columbus, and Robert of Bruning; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine Schmidt of Denver, Col., a sister, Mrs. George (Lillie) Miller of Anita, Ia.; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted from the Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley with Vicar Richard Hoogerhyde officiating.
Stanley Johnson accompanied the congregation in singing “Just AS I Am’ and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”
Pallbearers were Vernon, and Daniel Lauenstein, Bill Kleinschmidt, Mervin Baumann, Don Moravec and Charles Miller.
Interment was in the Geneva public cemetery.
