OLD SETTLERS GONE
RICHARD LOMAN OF DEMOCRAT
Richard Loman, one of the oldest, and highest respected and staunchest citizens of Democrat Township, passed from this life at his late home on Thursday of last week. He had just eaten the noon mean and seated himself in his old arm chair to read, when he clasped his hands to his breast, crying, “Oh, my heart.” His family came immediately to his side but he had expired before they came. Thus suddenly passed away a man, who in life was universally respected because of high qualities and his honest, straightforward ways. Mr. Loman was an old settler, having come here when the country was thinly populated. He was in his 60th year and leaves a wife and family. He was a member of the Wild Cat Masonic Lodge and under their auspices the funeral was conducted on Saturday from Ball Hill Church with Reverend Bloomfield presiding. Old friends, neighbors and relatives to a large number paid their last respects to the dead by following the remains to their last resting place.
