Loren Royce Soper was born January 13, 1923 to Frank and Grace Shute Soper in Spokane, Washington. He died July 28, 2012 in McMinnville, Oregon.
Loren attended school in Spokane, WA and worked for the Army at Geiger Field until joining the Coast Guard from 1942-1946. He moved to Portland, Oregon in 1946 and worked for OECO Electronics Firm until 1961 when he worked for Field Emission, now Hewlett Packard, retiring in 1986. He married Patricia Egan on July 25, 1953 in Stevenson, WA. He was a member of the Elks #1283, Masonic Lodge Union 3, McMinnville Police Auxiliary and the First Presbyterian Church in McMinnville. He was an active Scoutmaster for many of years. Loren enjoyed hosting Oregon State Parks, traveling, reading, fishing, and woodcrafting.
Loren is survived by son Loren R. Soper, II from Jefferson, OR; daughter Cynthia K. Mitchell of McMinnville, OR; 4 grandchildren; brother David Soper of Auburn, WA; and sister Dorothy Gillian of Seattle, WA.
He was preceded in death by his son Greg, wife Patricia in 2009, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
