RITES HELD FOR WOMAN OF OLIN ON MARCH 10TH
OLIN - Mrs. John Von Spreecken, 61, died at her home in Olin Tuesday morning, March 8, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 10, at the Olin Methodist church, with Rev. R. G. Jones in charge. Interment was in Olin cemetery. Hayden's Funeral home, Olin, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers included Thomas Eichhorn, Lester French, Claude Sears, Fred Hefflefinger, Howard Freeman, and Gilbert Jones. Singers were Marcia Ahrendsen. Vicki Fall, Sandra Jones, Barbara Slater, Vicki Glenn. Barbara Glenn and Cheryl Jones. Mrs. Robert Jones was organist. Flower committee included Emma Williams, Hazel Hart and Mary Levsen .

Helen Elizabeth Johnson Von Spreecken was born Oct. 23, 1904, at Wyoming, daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth Zak Johnson. She attended Wyoming schools. She was a member of the Methodist church Women's society of Christian service, Happy Hour club. "500" club.
On April 5, 1922, she was united in marriage to John Von R Spreecken, Davenport. Couple lived in Jones County and spent the last 19 years in Olin.

She is survived by her husband; son, Ray Von Spreecken, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Pence, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Freeman, Olin. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bette Mae in 1949; and sister, Elda Ahrendsen, Oct.,1965.
