FREDERICK VERNON ALLIS, 82, age 82, of Wyalusing RR 1, died on Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, Pa. Born on Nov. 15, 1916, in Rome, Pa., he was a son of the late Bert and Florence Mitten Allis. After retiring from farming on his Merryall Farm, he and his wife moved to Wyalusing. Vernon was preceded in death his wife, the former Ruth Sterling Allis on March 28, 1994. He was a member of the Camptown United Methodist Church, the Camptown IOOF and the Camptown Cemetery Association. Vernon has been a lifetime resident of this area. In addition to farming, he enjoyed woodworking. He left surviving a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Paul Lutz of Camptown; son, Larry Allis of New Albany; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachel and Elmer Callear of Athens, Ruth and George Roger of LeRaysville, Wilma Allis of Wyalusing; sister-in-law, Madaline Allis of LeRaysville; grandchildren; Clayton and May Allis of New York City, N.Y., Richard (Rob) and Rebecca Lutz Smith of Laceyville, Deborah Allis of Wyalusing, Diane Allis of Wyalusing, Timothy Lutz of Camptown, Julie Allis of New Albany and Sarah Allis of New Albany. In Addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1988; brother, Paul Allis; sisters, Kate McPherson and Marion Allis. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Camptown Community Church, with the Rev. Helen Learn and the Rev. Joyce Warner, officiating. Interment will be in Camptown Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations or contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in Mr. Allis' memory.
