The cemetery index gives his dates as 1885-1920, but family records as 1882 to 1921. When he registered for the draft during World War I (in 1918) his name (hard to read) seemed to be Carvosso Eugene Oakes, born 31 Aug 1880, aged 38. He was listed as a miner, living in Arizona. His contact was his mother, Clarissa oakes.

Since we know he really died in 1920, I will use the 1880 to 1920 dates.

From the: Crawford County Democrat, Friday, April 1, 1920, pg 5 MARENGO .... Eugene Okes is also critically ill.

From the Crawford County Democrat, Thursday, April 15, 1920, pg 5:

MARENGO Eugene Okes, who has been ill with tuberculosis died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Clarissa Okes early Tuesday. No arrangements had been made for funeral at this writing.
