He was born on "Railway Street, Across From The Prince Of Wales Inn, Chatham, Parish Of Rochester, Kent, England." Presumably the father of John H. Cann, and husband of Mary A. Cann. This would make him my G.G. grandfather on my mother's side. Cann descendant Lisa F. writes, "George Henry Cann, grandfather of Harry & Sam, married Mary Ann Belbin and they immigrated from England to Baltimore." I was able to check the 1870 Census record, which revealed that George was born in England, and that his occupation was "carpenter." Also listed were their children, Eliza J., John, George Edwin, and Annie. The 1890 Baltimore City Directory (available on Ancestry.com) lists his address as 1201 Ensor St., and his occupation as being a carpenter. The more recent members of this branch of this family are buried in Druid Ridge Cemetery in Baltimore, MD. Click on the photos to see an enlarged view of each.
