She met her future husband Peter in the bank where they both worked. In those days a bank employee could not be married to another from the same bank, so their relationship was kept a secret for many years. Peter, who immigrated from Scotland in 1928, took his responsibility to his mother and sister very seriously and did not marry until his mother passed away. So Connie, who was almost 50 years old, married Pete on November 10, 1962 in Queens, NY. They never had children, but was loved by everyone.
They had ten good years together, living first in Flushing, Queens, then in Bethpage, NY on Long Island. Then Pete began to go blind, then deaf. He died on September 30, 1994. Connie continued to live alone in her cozy home in Bethpage, and she too began to go blind. She lived alone the rest of her life and died in her sleep at the age of 99.
