Elmira: Age 98, passed away Sunday, July 15th, 2012, at home surrounded by the family she loved. She was the daughter of the late Stein and Esther (Hagelquist) Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra B. Knowlton of Pine City; son, Butch (Kathy) Bergh of Southport: six grandchildren, Mike (Michelle) Knowlton, Tari (Jeffrey) Janeski, Jason (Stephanie) Evans, Chad (Lisa) Bergh, Adrienne Cook, Mandy Crawford; and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Peterson of Elmira; cousin, Norman Patterson of Elmira. In addition to her parents, Viola was predeceased by her husband, Harold Bergh Sr.; son-in-law, Clyde Knowlton; and brother, Roger Johnson.
Devoted and dedicated member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Viola was an intoxicating personality that everyone loved to be around. She loved to be present for any party, get together or function.
Private graveside services will be held at a time convenient with the family at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Bethany Lutheran Church or to The Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care.
