When I told him WHITWORTH, he said "Oh yes, I remember Hattie Whitworth, we buried her THREE TIMES. When I inquired what he meant by that statement, he told me the story.
It seems that Hattie suffered from diabetes, and her right leg was amputated 1 Oct 1979, and the funeral home buried it, and then on 27 May 1981, she lost her left leg, and it too was buried, next to the right leg. A headstone/marker was prepared and placed on the grave where the legs were buried.
Then on 6 June 1981, Hattie passed away, and she was buried in the plot next to her legs, where her departed husband had been buried since 1938.
Photos of both headstone markers and a photo of the marker for her legs are also listed on this site.
