ABERDEEN - Mary Ethel Whitworth Lavender, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. She was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Monroe County to Raymond Douglas and Hattie Monroe Whitworth. She was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. She was a seamstress at Sharp Garment for 30 years.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Todd Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Bartahatchie.

Survivors include two sons, Roy Glen Lavender and his wife, Durlynn, of Hamilton and James Randy Lavender of Tupelo; five sisters, Emmer Jane Jackson, Bessie Barnes, Lottie Jackson and Dorothy Mayben, all of Aberdeen, and Delma Yates and her husband, Bill, of Hamilton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Everette Lavender, one daughter, Patricia Ann Ware; one grandson, Jonathan Eric Lavender; and two brothers, James Whitworth and Hank Whitworth.

Pallbearers will be Ernie Poss, Jay Barnes, Clayton Whitworth, Lee Mayben, Matt Lavender and Anthony Ware.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
