She married Thomas Boston Ralston, Sr., by the Reverend John L. Black on December 29, 1898 in the First Methodist Church of Lonaconing. Thomas was the son of Adam Miller Ralston and Dorothy Janet Boston, born in Lonaconing on July 27, 1876. Roughly 10 years after Thomas and "Bessie" were married, they bought a farm in Orleans, Nebraska. They were the parents of eight children, the first three born in Maryland and the last five born on the Farm in Nebraska.
During August of 1948, two years after Tom died on January 14, 1946, Bessie visited their daughter Mary, and family in Tacoma, Washington. She flew home in September, repacked and traveled by train to Allegany County, Maryland, to visit her sister, Marion Dixon (Peebles) Steiding, in Midland, Md. One afternoon after eating an apple, Bessie retired upstairs for a nap. When she didn't come back down stairs, she was found dead in bed. It was thought, that she choked on the apple. Her body was laid out in the Steiding House on Rail Road Street in Midland.
She passed away on September 28, 1948.
Marion Dixon Steiding and Annie Mae Marshall accompanied Bessie's remains back to Orleans, Nebraska, on the train, for the funeral and burial.
Their children were:
