In 1903 Kate and her family moved by wagon to a farm on Spring Creek. She was the 6th of 11 children. She attended Corinth School until she completed the eighth grade. She then attended Birch Tree High School. Kate went on to State Teachers Cokkege in Springfield, which is now SMSU.
She met Oren See while working at the Bank of Birch Tree. They married in January of 1923. They moved to California in August of 1923. There Kate attended school and completed a business course. In late 1924 they moved back to Missouri to live in Oak Grove Community. In 1926 Kate and Oren’s only child was born, a son. Kate began her teaching career in 1928 and returned in 1964.
Kate was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oren; one child; five brothers, Ploughman, Ruben, Joe, Laurel, and Carlos Davis; four sisters, Jess Schupp, Eulah Weaver, Beulah Davis, and Bernice Pulliam.
She is survived by one sister, Wilma Rader of Delaware, MO and a host of nieces and nephews.
Kate was a member of the First Baptist Church in Birch Tree. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Friday, December 27, 1996 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree with Rev. Alan Stringer officiating. Interment was in Montier under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Birch Tree.
