Olaves Wallom, 75, a former road supervisor with the Illinois Central, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Grace (Mrs. Henry) Argue of Belleville. He had suffered several strokes and was bedfast seven years.

Born in the town of Moscow, Iowa County, Sept 18, 1873, he was the son of Ole and Betsy Mellom Wallom. He was baptized and confirmed in the Blanchardville Lutheran church. On Sept. 20, 1896, he was married at Blanchardville to Jessie Mason. After their marriage they lived in Blanchardville, moving later to Monticello, Belleville, Freeport, LaSalle, and Monroe.

Mr. Wallom was IC road supervisor more than 30 years. He retired in 1938. Mr. Wallom was a member of the IOOF and Modern Woodman lodges.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Argue of Belleville; a son Maurice Wallom of Hot Springs, Ark.; two brothers, Melvin of Richland Center and Edward of Monticello; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Mead, Mrs. Wm. Smith, Mrs. Ernest Wenger, Sr., Mrs. W. E. Gould and Mrs. H. B. Marshall of Blanchardville; three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nov. 20, 1941, a brother and two sisters.

Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Saether funeral home, Blanchardville, with Rev. Roy Scott, pastor of Grace Methodist church, Belleville, officiating. Interment was in Graceland cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews: Earl Barber, Raymond Meade, Robert Gould of this place, Ernest Wenger, Jr. of Monroe, Claude Wallom of Monticello and Robert Cockroft of Belleville.
