Edwin E. Colden, 82, Albany, former Blanchardville and Argyle resident, died on Sunday, Dec. 25, at 11:30p.m. in Pleasant View Nursing Home. He had been in failing health the last three years.

Born in Green County on Feb. 11, 1895, he was the son of Ever and Julia Rear Colden. He was married to Lulu Dammen in the Blanchardville Lutheran Church on Nov. 22, 1916. Mrs. Colden died in 1919. He was then married on Dec. 22, 1922, in the Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, to Mathilda Bowman. She preceded him in death in 1954.

Mr. Colden was a former Green County Highway Department patrolman and was a lifelong Green County resident.

Surviving are four sons, Julian and Ralph, both of Monroe, Erling, Argyle, and Russell, Golden, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Helen) Korn, Monroe; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin, and a son in infancy.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. in the Erickson Funeral Home, Argyle. Rev. Lyman Oman will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Blanchardville.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday after 3 p.m.
