He was born on February 22, 1930 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, a son of Samuel Leland and Mary Thomas Jeppson. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1948 and attended Utah State University and AT&T Executive Schools.
Clarke served in the National Guard and during the Korean Conflict his unit was made active into the US Army where he served as Master Sergeant.
He married Marilyn Andersen on September 25, 1953 in Brigham City, Utah. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2009.
Clarke was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He worked for Mountain Bell/AT&T for 38 years starting as a lineman and ending his career in management.
Clarke is a renaissance man. He enjoyed woodworking, electrical wiring, plumbing, mechanics, gardening, anything telephone, birds - especially roadrunners. You name it - he did it and knew it, unless it had something do with chickens or horses, which he despised.
Surviving are three orphaned daughters, who miss him very much! Laurie (Peter) Webb, Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Cindy (Rich) Mott, Aurora, Colorado; Julie (Doug) Wright, Orem, Utah; 14 grandchildren, 15 1/2 great grandchildren and one brother, Paul Jeppson, Morgan, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandson, Jared Mott, and eleven siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County.
