J. Dempsey Dies At 67 In Hospital
John M. Dempse, 67, of 144 Plummer St., a retired Pennsylvania Railroad employe, died at 11:20 p. m. Friday in Oil City Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days. Born May 12, 1900 in Clintonville, he was the son of Matthew G. and Anna Shaffer Dempsey. For the past 55 years he had resided in this city. He was married July 23, 1918 to the former Marie Heckathorne, who survives. Mr. Dempsey had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and at the time of his retirement, July 9, 1964, was serving as a PRR car inspector. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by three sons; Leroy and Howard of Oil City and John Dempsey of New York City; two sisters, Mrs. Issabelle Baker of Franklin and Mrs. Myrtle Young of Duarte, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Osenider Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Rev. Sherman Beers of the Wesleyan Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
