A native of Fairfield, she had resided at Muncie since 1949.
Rites Wednesday - Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Hazelwood Christian Church in Munice, with burial in the Elm Ridge Mausoleum there. Visitation at Meeks' Mortuary will be 7 to 9 Tuesday.
She was born near Barnhill Oct. 15, 1907, the daughter of Theodore G. and Joanna Churchwell Puckett.
She was married to J. Virgil Herring in Bloomington, Ind. Dec. 21, 1944.
Mrs. Herring was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church, the Alpha Philathea Class, the McRae Club and Ball State University Wives. She taught school at the old Frame School in Wayne County and at one time served as principal of the old Mill Shoals High School.
She was a Fairfield High School graduate and also of Southern Illinois University and Columbia University.
Memorials may be made to the Hazelwood Christian Church Building Fund, the Ball Memorial Hospital Hospice or American Heart Association.
The Survisors - Surviving are her husband; two sons, Dr. Richard J. Herring of Bryn Mawr, Pa; and Dr. Don P. Herring of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren.
Her parents, one brother and three sisters preceded her in death. She was an aunt of the later Virgina Harlan Anderson here. (Wayne County Press, Fairfield, IL.)
