George H. Agnew, 88, Venice, died Feb. 11, 2004. His parents are William Hamilton Agnew & Jane Frances Witter.

He was born Jan. 30, 1916, in Tyrone, Pa., and came to Venice 27 years ago from Haddon Heights, N.J. He retired after 35 years as a research chemist at Rohm and Haas Co. in Bridesburg, Pa., and Bristol, Pa. He graduated from Penn State University in 1941 and was a member of Methodist Church, Haddon Heights, N.J.

He was an Eagle Scout in Tyrone and was involved in Boy Scouts and Little League. He was a volunteer at Meals on Wheels for 25 years in Venice.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Agnes; daughters Christine Wilson of Wamego, Kan., Betsy Hosier of Hampton Township, N.J., and Mary J. Moffitt of Barnsboro, N.J.; a son, Robert of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today. Inurnment will be in Venice Memorial Gardens. National Cremation Society, Venice chapter, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Venice, 950 Tamiami Trail S., Venice, FL 34285.
