H. ANSORGE, 41 IS VICTIM OF TRAGIC DEATH
Falls Backward on Circular Saw and Strikes His Head
Herman Ansorge was instantly killed at the Henry Sell farm, one mile south
of English Lake at noon yesterday when he fell on a circular saw. Ansorge
fell into the saw head foremost and was cut almost to the lungs before the
machine was brought to a stop. He was dead when the men with whom he had
been working reached his side. A physician was called but the unfortunate
man was beyond human aid. Mrs. Ansorge is in a serious condition as a
result of the shock of her husband's death and is under the care of
physicians.
The Sell farm adjoins the Ansorge place and the families had always been
neighborly, assisting each other with chores. Yesterday morning Ansorge
went to the Sell place to assist in the cutting of firewood. He was
operating the saw and the cause of the accident which occurred shortly
before noon is not fully explained, happining so suddenly that it unnerved
all at the scene. It seems a pile of wood near the machine started to fall,
a piece struck Ansorge and threw him backward, head first upon the saw which
was traveling at a high speed. The head was split open and the saw penetrated
almost to the lungs, it is said.
Native of County, 41
Herman Ansorge was about forty one years old. He was born on the old
Ansorge farm on the Green Bay road where he remained until he was married
seventeen years ago to Miss Pauline Luebke when the family took up its home
on a farm near English Lake. Besides the widow he is survived by a son, Alvin,
aged fifteen and a daughter Irene, aged thirteen, two sisters, Mrs. Joseph
Gass of Newton and Mrs. Charles Zinkle of this city and a half sister, Mrs.
E.K. Ansorge of Green Bay. His parents are both dead and a brother, Ernest
Ansorge of this city, died six years ago.
The funeral will be held from the home Saturday afternoon with services at
1 o'clock, the Rev. Recht officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen.
