Eldest son of Henry and Theresa Ansorge. Emigrated to America with his parents and siblings in 1853. Family settled on a farm in Newton Township, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. His mother died within the next few years. Enlisted 8 August, 1861. Mustered in at Aurora, Illinois in Sep 1861. Killed in action. Private in Company B, Illinois 36th Infantry. He was single.
