Agnes McIntosh (Gray) Smith, 76, of Connersville, Fayette, In. passed away at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 1971, at University Hospital (IU hospital) in Indianapolis, Marion, In. where she had been a patient for eight weeks.

She was born Sept. 17, 1894, in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. She was one of many children of Alexander and Agnes McIntosh Gray. She came from Scotland to Connersville, In. in December, 1957, to help care for her Grandchildren after her son-in-law, John Allen Ervine, passed away. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Her husband William Wallace Smith died in 1928 and is buried in Friockheim cemetery in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. Her parents and several siblings also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her only child, a daughter, Mrs. Ina Ervine of Connersville, In; a brother Walter Gray of Dundee, Scotland; two granddaughters, Mrs. Agnes (Ervine) Short of Greenfield, In. and Mrs. Barbara (Ervine) Robinson of Liberty,In.; four great grandchildren, David, Tracey and Joe Short, and Crystal Robinson. Her fifth great grandchild is due in May.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home in Connersville, In. with Rev. E Duane Aelick officiating. Burial was in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Grandma's first husband, Peter Gellatly #12433412, was born in 1894, in Scotland. His parents were James Gellatly and Elizabeth Gellatly (nee Forbes). They were married December 1, 1914 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. They did have one daughter that didn't survive but a few days at most. Peter was a member of the Cameron Highlanders and was killed in action on July 23, 1916, during the war. He is buried in France.
