Henry Junior Blankenship, 77, of 4087 Mitchell Road, Ridgeway, died July 7, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.

A Martinsville native, he was born on March 11, 1928, a son of James Granville Blankenship and Henrietta Keys Blankenship. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Wanda Elaine Blankenship and Rena Kay Blankenship; a sister, Inez Nunn; and three brothers, Curtis, Russell and Kenneth "Tenny" Blankenship.

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from DuPont as a salthouse operator after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Henry County Sportsman's Club, and he attended Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, June Wright Blankenship of the home; a daughter, Valerie Blankenship of Ridgeway; two sons, Noel Henry Blankenship of Ridgeway and Kenny Blankenship of the residence; a sister, Marie Blankenship of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers, Denver Blankenship and Jesse Blankenship of Spencer; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Soots and Carlton "Bud" Payne officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.

Visitation was held Saturday at the funeral home. Friends are being received at the home.
